Rajghat (New Delhi) - Directions | Timings | History

Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated after his assassination in 1948. The moment you enter the place, there are these huge parks where in different dignitaries like Queen Elizabeth 11, US president Eisenhower etc have planted trees. So lets start with the directions...


Directions - How to reach Rajghat


The nearest metro station for Rajghat is pragati maidan metro station. Rajghat is only 4 kms away from the station. Take an auto from pragati maidan metro station in Rs 40 and he will drop you right outside the main gate. Do no pay more than 40 bucks. :)

Ticket Price


It is a holy place in its own way so there is no ticket for Rajghat. The entry is absolutely free for national as well as international visitors.

Timings of Rajghat


The timings for Rajghat are from sunrise to sunset which means from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm. 

Photography Rules


There is no restriction on taking pictures or making videos in Rajghat. Be it mobile camera, digital camera ot DSLR, it is absolutely free but you are not allowed to use your tripod.

Rajghat has its own purity which you can only feel it once you are there. The black marbles made platform with Mahatma Gandhi's last words on it (Hey Ram) has its own significance. I would higly recommend to visit Rajghaat once in your lifetime.

Jantar Mantar (New Delhi) - Directions, Timings, History

Do you know that Jantar Mantar was constructed to observe astronomical changes by Maharaja Jaisingh II of Jaipur. It was built in the 18th century. Seriously I was amazed to see this masterpiece. I wish I could find out the way they used to use this monument. So lets talk about the directions - How to reach Jantar Mantar.

Directions for Jantar Mantar

The best landmark for Jantar Mantar is Patel Chowk metro station. Jantar Mantar is only 1.5 kms away from the station. If you don't want to walk you can take an auto rickshaw. He will charge you R s 30 to RS 40 bucks. Do not pay more than that :)

Timings of Jantar Mantar

The timings of Jantar Mantar are from sunrise to sunset. Simple :)

Ticket Price

The ticket price for Jantar Mantar is Rs 5 for Indian visitors and Rs 100 for foreign visitors. If you are 15 or below the age of 15, the entry is absolutely free for you.

Photography Rules

There is no charge for taking pictures in Jantar Mantar. You can take as many pictures as you want from your mobile camera, digital camera or DSLR camera. However, there is a Rs 25 charge for making videos. If are planning to make videos inside Jantar Mantar, you would have to pay Rs 25. Also as I always say, tripods are not allowed in Jantar Mantar till the time you do not have written permission from the authorities for it.

I believe it is a wonderful place and one of its own kind. If you are planning a trip to Delhi, Jantar Mantar should surely be on your list.
