Humayun Tomb (New Delhi) - Directions | Timings | History

We always read in the history that husbands had made this; husbands had made that for their wives. It is very rare to hear that wives have made something for their husbands. Well...here we have something which was created by the wife for her husband...Humayun Tomb...Yes it was built by Hamida Banu Begum for Humayun after 9 years of his death in 1565 A.D.  I know she made it after 9 years of his death but It’s still something.
Trust me...It is a wonderful place to visit in New Delhi. From stunning architecture to well designed wall arts...everything is just perfect. So here is the information related to Directions, Timings and Ticket price for Humayun Tomb.

Directions – How to reach Humayun Tomb
The best landmarks are the metro stations because they would not go anywhere. So the nearest metro station is JLN Metro Station or Jangpura Metro Station. Out of these two the nearest one is JLN metro station. If you are coming by metro, you can take a rickshaw from this station in Rs30 bucks...Not more than that...I don’t want you to overpay. If you are coming by your own vehicle than first reach JLN Metro station and then find your way to the tomb. It’s only a km away from the metro station.

Look at the beauty of this monument....How did they make it in 16h century...

More than 100 Mughal graves are there in this tomb and it was the first structure in which white marbles were used in such huge quantities...

Timings of Humayun Tomb
Timings in one line – Sunrise to Sunset...What it means is...It opens with sunrise and closes with sunset. But as I always say don’t be there with the first ray of sun, you may find it close at that time.

No words in front of the architectural beauty of this tomb...

Tickets
So what is the charge of entering the fort? Rs 10 per person for Indian visitors and Rs 250 per person for foreigner visitors. Also there is a good news for kids... entry for kids below the age of 15 is free...Isn’t it great!!!!

Ticket prices are here...You will find this board at the entrance of the tomb.

Photography Rules
There is no charge for taking pictures but if you want to record something, there is a minimal charge of Rs25 for video recording. One more thing, as I always say you are absolutely fine till the time you don’t use your tripod either for pictures or recordings. So do not carry your tripod. It is not allowed in most of the Indian monuments till the time you don’t have written permission from the authorities.

Such a beauty....

That’s it....you know the directions, you now the timings and you know the basic guidelines...so what are you waiting for....Humayun Tomb is a monument which is totally worth visiting.

Lastly, if you have any query related to Humayun Tomb or any other monument, please write it in the comment section. You can also directly message me on my Facebook page here –www.Facebook.com/TouringTravellers. Till next time Keep Travelling and Stay Happy because you are AWESOME...:)

Want to know what this is...See the next image..:)

This is the Mausoleum of Isa Khan Niazi who was a prominent member in the court of Sher Shah Suri. It was built nearly 20 years before the Humayun Tomb.

The mausoleum of Isa Khan Niazi  built in 16th century.

Mausoleum of Isa Khan. Sometimes I wonder How these people managed to make such magnificent architecture in 16th century.

This gateway lead to the tomb garden of Bu Halima...Honestly I could not find out this place..but this gate was huge and magnificent.

Here is the Humayun Tomb which I believe is one of the best tributes in the world by a wife to her husband. Look at the mystical design of this tomb.

This is how Humayun Tomb looks from the corners...Amazing view..there was a time when Yamuna (river) used to flow behind the tomb. I can still visualize that view....

As I mentioned in the blog post, more than 100 Mughals are buried here in this tomb...these are two of many graves I saw in the tomb..May god give them peace...

Here lies the emperor of emperors, the father of the most prominent ruler of the world - Humayun. May god bless his soul.

One more grave of one of the mughals.

Here is how this tomb was taken care by the Britishers and then by India government...It's quite intriguing...

This is how sunset looks from the terrace of the tomb...I believe this was place where Hamida Banu Begum used to sit to mourn his husband....May god bless their souls...

Lotus Temple - Directions | Timings | History

If you are looking for peace and I mean literally... peace, do visit Lotus Temple (also known as Bahai temple). I know we all have studied about it in our books in India. To those who are not from India, actually Lotus Temple is one of the monuments which come under famous monuments of India. So if you have only seen Lotus Temple in pictures, do visit it. It’s a wonderful place. It was constructed by Canadian architect Fariborz Sahba and completed in 1986. The best part of this temple is that it is open for people of all religion.
So the next question is How to reach, what are the timings of Lotus Temple, Is there a ticket etc. Well that’s why you have me. So here we go...

How to reach Lotus Temple (Directions and Landmarks)

Whether you are coming by your own vehicle or by public vehicle, the best landmark for Lotus Temple is Kalkaji Metro Station. If you are coming by metro or bus, Get down at Kalkaji and start walking. Lotus Temple is only 15 minutes away from there. Come on you don’t want to walk....fine..take a rickshaw but do not pay more than Rs20 bucks (if you are alone). Two guys..pay Rs30 bucks and if he asks more than that, start showing that you come to this every single day and you know the area and you know the fare...you know what I mean..:P

Lotus Temple also known as Bahai Temple built by Canadian architect in 1986. Isn't it look beautiful.

Timings of Lotus Temple

From 1 April to 30 September – It opens at 9.00am and closes at 7.00pm
From 1 October to 31 March – It opens at 9.00am and closes at 5.30pm
Most importantly, Lotus Temple does not open on Monday’s. Make sure you do not go there on Monday.

Ticket for Lotus Temple

So what’s the charge, actually there is none....yeah you heard me..No ticked at all...Isn’t it great...We like free entries don’t we.

What to do in Lotus Temple

First thing first, you can sit inside the temple and experience the peace. At the entrance, there are two beautiful ponds and there is a sitting area where you can sit and chill out. ONE IMPORTANT THING, you are not allowed to take any kind of eatable inside the premises. Not even juice. Security would ask you to literally throw it away. So make sure your bags do not have any eatables except drinking water.

This is the place outside the temple where you can sit, take pictures and chill out.

Photography Rules

There are no rules. You can take as many pictures as you want BUT you are not allowed to take pictures inside the temple..WAIT, you do know that it’s a temple..right..But if the goal of the day is to capture that lotus shaped image than you are on..nobody would stop you. Last thing as I always say, you are absolutely fine till the time you don’t use tripod to capture images or record videos. So no tripod.

This is it. Go to Lotus Temple and experience the peace and purity of the place, once you are inside, you are not suppose to talk. So just sit and explore your inner peace. If you want to attend the prayer than the timings of Lotus Temple prayers are 10.00 am, 12.00pm, 3.00pm and 5.00pm. I have personally attended these prayers. It’s an amazing experience.

This picture was taken from the outer fence of Lotus Temple. While taking the picture I was just visualizing that How did they make this in 1986 ? Yes I like visualizing history.

Architecture at it best.

Peaceful like heaven.

These are the people who came to visit the temple that day. I saw people coming directly from bus terminals with their luggage in the temple.

This is other man made pond I was talking about. This one is opposite to the other one. People site, chill out and some of them meditate as well. Amazing place.

Played a bit with my camera and captured this image. Hope you like it :)

That’s all for lotus temple, If you any query related to Lotus Temple or any other place, just write to me in the comment section or message me directly on my Facebook page – www.facebook.com/TouringTravellers.

So till next time, Keep travelling and stay happy because you are awesome.

My Ladakh Trip : A Photo Tour

Ladakh is one of the most peaceful and pure places in the world. A place where you can actually taste the air, a place which is the origin of some oldest monasteries, a place which defines peace. I can go on and on when it comes to Ladakh. It was one of my memorable trip. I had a few bumps in the trip because being an adventure lover I went to Ladakh in late September which is not ideal but it was all worth it.

In this post I will share my journey to ladakh via pictures. I hope you like it..If have any queries related to Leh - Ladakh weather or ladakh tour packages...write to me in the comment section or you can also write to me on my Facebook page - www.facebook.com/touringtravellers :)

So here we go -

So Here the journey starts.....This is the kind of peace and purity you would find there..

This was our first stop in Jispa, where we had food in this house cum restaurant...This lovely family offered simple yet amazing food which includes a bowl of pulses and rice.
This was our second stop..Sarchu...behind me is our little hotel which I call tin and mud hotel..Would explain that in my next picture. :)

There was this lovely old lady who took care of all of us like an angel..We reached at this place at 2 in the morning..we didn't have water to drink...one of my friends was really sick due to the cold temperature and this lady was an angel in hell...and yes why I call it Tin and Mud hotel...you can see It is made of Tin and Mud...well there is a reason for that...Tin part is always cooler and the mud part is always warm...which helps in both seasons.

We left Sarchu and on our way to Ladakh..This picture was taken at our third stoppage 'Pang'.

Finally reached...The first place we visited in Leh was this palace...you can actually see the whole city from here..

Here is the view of Leh city...It looks like a bowl of mountains which is filled with small houses...
Hemis Monastery...One of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh..It was built in 17th century..I don't know how did these people came here in the 17th century when even today it is a difficult task..Hats off to all the monks..
On the way to Pangong Lake...This is the second highes motorable road in the road...It was so slippery that locals have to put iron chains on their tyres...Well we didn't have that option...so this is what happened next..SEE THE NEXT IMAGE !!!

No body got hurt...but it was a frightening experience...Our car was literally about to go down....Do you see the road...It is made of tiles for a specific reasons...Thanks to the two local boys who helped us out...
Finally reached where we wanted to reach...Pangong Lake...According the locals..this lake is 60% in China and 40% in India..It was so cold in there that we couldn't even feel our face...well that's the price one has to pay for visiting Ladakh in late September. :)

I hope you find these pictures interesting...Initially I wanted to write about the trip but I thought what could be better than explaining things through pictures. If you are planning a Road Trip to Ladakh...and have question regarding the route and accomadations..Do write it down in the comment section or write to me on my facebook page here - www.facebook.com/touringtravllers
Till next time..stay happy and keep travelling.

Feroz Shah Kotla Fort, India (Haunted) : Directions | Timings | Ticket Price

Feroz Shah Kotla Fort, the fort which was once used to be a three story building with priceless stones is now a left over ruin with the presence of djinns(Jinn) in it. Their exisctence is not proven by anyone but the locals believe in their presence in the fort and they worship them!!!! Yesss...they do!!!!

Specially on Thursdays, you can see hundreds of people in the fort worshiping these Djinns to get their blessings. According to my conversation with the security guard of this place, people actually come to this place to appease the holy spirits by sticking coins to the walls, offering milk, fruits and even food.

Directions - How to reach Feroz Shah Kotla Fort

This fort is situated near Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg between Old Delhi and New Delhi, but you don't have to get into that. Just remember the landmark...So the best landmark is Pragati Maidan Metro Station. The fort is just 10 minutes away from the station. Even if you are coming by your own vehicle stick to this landmark. If you are coming by bus, get down at Pragati Maidan and from there either you can walk or you can talk an auto-rikshaw, he will take Rs30 - Rs40. (Do not pay more than that :D)

Timings of Feroz Shah Kotla Fort

This fort opens at sunrise and closes at sunset BUT it is difficult to define the sunrise, I know, you all would not be going there early in the morning but still for morning lovers..just don't be there with the first ray of sun...Take you time and reach the fort by 7.30am to 8.00am.

Ticket Price -

The good news, NO Ticket...Just be there after sunrise and before sunset and you are in. (On the Internet I have seen article which says there is a ticket of Rs 5 for Indians and rs100 for foreigners, But I personally went to this place last week and there was NO TICKET)

Photography Rules -

There are no rules, just get it there and start shooting. There is one thing, in most of the forts in India, they allow you to take pictures, make recording but the moment you want to shoot with your tripod...you would see the guards gazing at you like you have stolen their property. So don't use your tripod and you will be fine.

I hope you find this information useful, If you have any query related to this place or any other place in India, Just leave me message here or come to my facebook page - facebook.com/TouringTravellers
Till next time...stay happy and keep travelling :)

Doesn't it look like a face of a person...

Doors are there....I really wanted to get in and take some pictures....But couldn't do so...

Empty vessels..

He is the one guarding the place at night...Daring!!!!

Agrasen Ki Baoli, New Delhi (Haunted Place) – History | Directions | Timings

What if I tell you that once upon a time there was a stepwell which used to hypnotize people to commit suicide in it? A stepwell (Baoli) which was full of black water and was built in the era of Mahabharta and rebuilt and modified in the 14th century by Aggarwal community and IT STILL EXISTS!!! There is no water but the step well is still there.

If you love to explore historical places which have not been tampered by the government, you must visit Agrasen Ki Baoli in New Delhi. (also known as Ugrasen Ki Baoli).

There was a time when this place used to be full of water.....which was black in colour.

Directions – How to reach Agrasen Ki Baoli

It is situated on Hailey Road in Connaught Place, New Delhi....But How would one reach to this place??? Whether you are coming from your own car or by metro or bus, the best landmark is Barakhamba Road Metro Station Gate no. – 5. You can walk form there or you can take an auto which would cost you around Rs30 to Rs40.

Timings of Agrasen Ki Baoli

There are many articles on the internet which has different timings for this place which is completely misleading. So I actually went to this place to get the right timings. The right timings of Agrasen Ki Baoli are from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. It opens at 8.30am in the morning till 5.00pm in the evening and post 5.30 pm, there is a security guard who would literally push you out of this place. Just kidding but yeah at times he does get irritated.

He is the one guarding the place. He is the one who sleeps at this place..Well he surely has some stories to share with us.

Ticket Price of Agrasen Ki Baoli

Hey!!!Good News...There is no ticket, no entry fee, no charge...just be there at the right time which is between 8.30am to 5.00 pm and you are in.
